"Young Leadership Development Foundation" wins international awards

2014 -

During the year 2014, the Young Leaders Development Foundation took the decision to merge the (International Language Center for Girls and the Youth Economic Development Center), to become under its name, and is the first internationally accredited civil society organization in the International Computer Driving License, and it was able to provide girls and youth with modern technological skills and global standards that meet the needs of the labor market, and expanded its work to include building the capacities of English language teachers to ensure improvement of their education outcomes, and promoted participatory work and exchange of experiences between civil society organizations as one of the responsibilities of advanced civil society organizations towards other civil society organizations with less experience, and to ensure the continuity and quality of the outputs of programs and activities Institutions of civil society.



 



The Young Leadership Development Foundation worked on building national human rights capacities for youth to strengthen the capacities of young men and women affiliated with civil society institutions and youth initiatives to participate in playing their leadership role in national and regional networking, strengthening networking and communication between youth leaders, civil society organizations and other stakeholders, and creating a space for exchanging experiences. It has raised awareness among young men and women from the poorest segments of the local community of the importance of coexistence, rejecting discrimination, consolidating the principle of equity, contributing to reduce child marriage, and raising community members' awareness of the dangers of child marriage, including decision-makers, local and social leaders also religious leaders.





The Foundation has created a voice for children's rights with a major focus on corporal punishment by raising awareness and building the capacity of various stakeholders including relevant government entities (Ministry of Education, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Human Rights, Ministry of Technical Education, HCMC, students, teachers, youth initiatives, NGOs ) In order to create a child-friendly school environment through awareness-raising, advocacy campaigns and individual contacts to make them more involved in child rights issues and obtain their support, it has contributed to raising the level of leadership and life skills of male and female students from grades 7-11, empowering girls, enhancing their skills and reducing their exposure to violence and child marriage, training male and female teachers about children’s rights and citizenship, and networking with students, to spread awareness about the importance of education, and the catastrophe of child marriage.



 



It directly intervened in ending the conflict in Yemeni society by building the capacity of civil society on conflict resolution, as well as improving the role of women and youth in governance, which leads to improve economic opportunities for women and youth, and highlighted a number of critical issues, such as the positive and effective participation of youth, development and conflict sensitivity. And it was able to unify the political visions of the youth and linked between the participants and the participation of the young political leaders.



 



It intervened to support the Yemeni government and people during the unprecedented transitional period, addressing youth unemployment as one of the root causes of conflict, by further strengthening strategic partnerships, and preparing to scale up innovative, experimental tools to achieve a catalytic effect, while at the same time engaging the government, the private sector, microfinance institutions and donors at work; Along with a common goal, in building the resilience of Yemeni youth for economic revitalization and paving the way for comprehensive development, contributing to reduce unemployment by providing the workforce in entrepreneurship, engaging employers to provide job opportunities and identifying demand gaps in the labor market to cover them, A special focus is placed on disadvantaged and low-income youth, school dropouts, individuals with low to medium skills, women, urban and rural youth, individuals working in hazardous environments, and educate them professionally with the owners of different professions and private companies.
