Within the direction of YLDF towards empowering young women and increasing the level of their technological capabilities, in early March 2022, it launched the Digital Competencies Program for young women with an entrepreneurial orientation as trainers and as trainees in partnership with Mondo Organization.
The program was launched with the training of TOT, targeting 6 girls to qualify them on topics and basic skills, including information and data literacy, communication and cooperation, digital content creation, safety, problem-solving, and later 4 were selected to provide a series of courses for other young women in the same fields.
According to the project coordinator, Ahmed Abu Ghanem, “The digital competencies program aims, in general, to increase the level of digital capabilities of young women with an entrepreneurial orientation to improve their abilities to use digital tools and online platforms to solve daily problems as well as achieve their (personal and professional) goals.”
In the same context, Abu Ghanem adds that, through this training package, which is presented during 14 + 96 hours, the program seeks to achieve two sub-goals: “The first: raising knowledge and awareness for female trainers on the topics of online presence - digital safety - hackathon - entrepreneurship in the settings.” Digital, and the second: is to raise the knowledge and awareness of the trainees on the topics of establishing an online presence - digital safety - hackathon entrepreneurship in digital settings.
The digital competencies program for young women targets girls from the governorates of Aden, Taiz, and Hadramout, aged between 19-and 30 years, and provides training virtually through the Zooms.
It is also worth noting that all the female trainers and trainees are former participants in the Youth Leadership Program, but the trainers are from the Sixth Youth Leadership Program, and the trainees are from the Seventh.
